MORE INFORMATION TO KNOW:
ACCOMMODATION: Your summer home is the Residencia Sarrià, one of Barcelona’s most sought-after student residences, located in a safe, elegant and sophisticated area near the city center. Housing is in double rooms that enjoy air conditioning and private bathrooms, Internet access, games room, private cinema, rooftop swimming pool and access to the next door Can Caralleu sports club where players can workout, swim or simply relax at the café. The camp is overseen by senior directors and supervised by experienced residential advisors (RAs) that live on the hall. Directors and RAs have both coaching and residential life experience and also attend training sessions. Players have access to common areas where they can settle down with friends and relax. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at the residence.
TOP FACILITIES: Train at world-class facilities, including FC Barcelona’s official training grounds in Spain, the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper — the home of La Masia, the first team’s coaching, dining, and training facilities, and 9 world-class pitches.
FCB ESCOLA COACHES: Coaching from FC Barcelona Escola coaches — licensed, certified trainers from FC Barcelona’s youth system. Technical Directors boast years of experience, including directing FC Barcelona’s Escolas abroad.
BARÇA WORKSHOPS: On-field sessions are complemented by carefully designed soccer workshops to help improve your understanding of the game. These hour-long workshops meet every day and are led by FC Barcelona staff, guest speakers and experts in their respective field. All players follow the same workshop series. Topics include history of FC Barcelona, soccer theory, physical training, performance training, sports medicine, sports psychology, and an FC Barcelona Museum Tour.
CITY OF BARCELONA: Summerfuel staff is on hand to make sure you take advantage of your summer in Barcelona. Barcelona’s history enriches its vibrant modern cultural life and reputation for being cosmopolitan and cutting edge. The city lays claim to many important museums and galleries, whose Modernist architecture championed by Antoni Gaudí contrasts with the ultra-modern Olympic port and pristine beaches of the stunning Mediterranean coast. From the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to the modern shops and cafes of Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona possesses a unique energy and style that make it one of the top destinations in all of Europe.
F.A.Q.
WHAT IS INCLUDED? Once campers are in Barcelona, pretty much everything is included — housing, food, coaching, activities, excursions, and more! Campers will need to pay for two lunches, and any souvenirs or memorabilia that they want. There will also be a few meals out or trips into the city that students will need to pay for. Airfare/transportation to/from camp is not included, either.
CAN PARENTS WATCH TRAINING SESSIONS? Because we will be at FC Barcelona’s official training ground, there is a high level of security. We will welcome parents and other family members to stay and watch training sessions on specific days which the camp director will announce. We’ll set up a specific area for parents to watch from so that they can observe safely. Additionally, please don’t interrupt training with comments or coaching advice for players or staff. There will be times when photography and video are allowed, and others when they are prohibited. On the final day, there will be an awards ceremony that we encourage all parents to attend.
HOW WILL PLAYERS BE DIVIDED? Upon arrival, players will be broken into groups based on age. Once the coaches get an idea of each player’s level and ability, they may shift players between groups to find the best fit for each camper.
IS THIS A TRYOUT FOR LA MASIA? The Camp offers players the chance to see how FC Barcelona’s youth and first teams train. It is not designed or run to recruit or scout players. The coaches are all FCB employees and are always looking for talent, but the camps do not send players directly to the FC Barcelona youth system.
WHO ARE THE COACHES? The head coaches come from FC Barcelona’s famous Escola. They work year-round training FC Barcelona youth players, helping them improve tactically and technically, with the goal of eventually becoming professionals. There will also be a licensed athletic trainer on site to deal with any injuries or medical issues that arise, and an ambulance in case of emergency.
WILL WE SEE THE BARÇA PLAYERS? We are training at FC Barcelona’s training facility, where the first and youth teams come to work and get better. During the summer they are on vacation or playing in the World Cup, but there may be some players around training on their own, working with the medical staff, etc. However, if we see a player it will be coincidental — they don’t have any organized visits to the camp. Additionally, campers need to be sure they’re being respectful and orderly if they see a player — the players come to the Ciutat Esportiva to get work done and improve as players, and can’t be bothered while they’re there.
WHY CHOOSE THE OFFICIAL FC BARCELONA SOCCER CAMPS? The FC Barcelona Soccer Camps offer players the unique on-field opportunity to train the way Barça train.
